Hi! My name is Marti. I'm a writer by trade and spent several decades working in the media. But as much as I love writing, I may love getting mail even more.
Give me a handwritten letter, postcard, package or personally chosen card — anything written by a real person that doesn't ask me for money — and I'm delighted. But it's hard to get someone to write you an actual letter these days, isn't it?
It got me thinking: why not create a mail club for people like me?
What does that mean? I live alone and right now, I prefer it that way. I'm a bit of an introvert. I like people, but I prefer them on my own terms. I value my own space, my schedule, and the freedom to do things when and how I choose.
I guess that's why I love mail: friends show up in my mailbox without actually showing up at my door.
